Department, who will temporarily act as Custodian. I shall then endeavour to arrange that the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company should assume control of this office under a working arrangement with the Canton authorities. and, pending the negotiation of such an agreement, telegraphic messages between Hong Kong and Canton will be handled by the Government wireless stations at each end - an arrangement which has frequently been made in the past on the numerous occasions when this land-line has been interrupted.
